RE curriculum

Intent statement

At Coteford Infant School we believe that RE should be active and enjoyable and should promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our children.  Children will be encouraged to be respectful and open-minded towards others with different faiths and beliefs; and they will have opportunities to develop their sense of identity and belonging through self-awareness and reflection.

We take a creative approach to teaching RE  with strong cross-curricular links to Literacy, Art and Music. Children learn about major world faith festivals, to support our teaching on worship and celebration eg Christmas, Diwali and Eid. We look at all special places of worship through our RE curriculum, to which some of them we visit as well e.g: St Martin's Church, Ruislip High Street and Inviting in Northwood Synagogue to talk to the children. We encourage the children to share their own experiences of faith as well as re-enact significant events so children get hands on experience.
