Nursery
Nursery

Welcome to our Nursery. We believe that each person is special and each day is important.

Coteford Nursery is a 35 place nursery consisting of a morning and afternoon session with four permanent members of staff. The ethos of the nursery is learning through play, both in the inside and outside environment. Children access the seven areas of learning through fun, interesting, explorative and interactive activities.

At Coteford we aim to promote the all-round development of the children through provision of a stimulating, safe and secure environment which is planned, prepared and organised with the developmental needs of the every child in mind. Apart from planned daily activities within the nursery, children also enjoy dancing, singing and participating in hall games as well as participating in cooking activities. We also used a programme called, ‘Talk for Writing’ to help improve children’s story writing language. This is where children learn a story off by heart to develop their story language, their vocabulary and also to develop an understanding of how stories work.

Our Expectations

By the time children leave the nursery our expectations are that children will be able to:

  • Write their own name forming each letter correctly.
  • Count by rote, order, represent and recognise numbers to ten.
  • Be confident to play and learn both in nursery and the wider school environment
